Pioneers, by nature, are unbreakable. Facing hardships and against all odds, only fuels their passion and strengthens their resolve to venture into uncharted territories and discover new worlds. Our very Own Abdul Jabbar Al-Yahya is such a pioneer, one who leads by example through what he has achieved, created and projected over the decades.
In addition to his strong passion towards artistic expression, I can confidently say that he has more than shown to us his abilities in merging vision with cultural and artistic individualism. And in spite of his influence by different methods and schools of art, he would never stop to evolve and would take things even further with his own unique talent and creativity.
Today, we take this opportunity to celebrate the work of a great artist, one who belongs to an elite group of the finest world artists. In "Building and Belonging", this latest solo exhibition of many he has held over the years, Al-Yahya shows us what it truly means to belong. This one theme that is evident in his work has had a great impact on his person and his art. It is belonging to the self and its inner conflicts, it is belonging to family, to people, a nation and it is belonging to all of that, to humanity as a physiological and existential being.
Those art enthusiasts and critics who are familiar with AlYahya's work realize the artist's value to the art movement in Saudi Arabia as one of its founders as well as his contributions to art in the Arab world. He has become a symbol for cultural self-evolution for he has dedicated himself to his art from an early stage and making art even when he was facing difficulties. When he couldn't get hands on paint, he would make his own and it is this persistence that made him what he is today.
Hewar Art Gallery perceives Abduljabbar Al-Yahya's remarkable career as rich and very inspiring. It is our honor to host his latest solo exhibition showcasing his masterpieces. Al-Yahya's notable contributions in the art movement truly deserve high acclaim and respect. This is an excellent opportunity for us to share with you a unique art experience.
